The hotel del Comte had great staff, especially the 2 gentlemen who worked in the evening as they were very friendly and helped us with finding our restaurant. The hotel room was large for European standard, and was clean with hardwood floors, clean bedding, and very new and clean bathrooms. You will need to know that there is no food after breakfast is over. You will need to visit local restaurants, but there is no shortage in the area. Ask for the two best tapas restaurants around and expect exceptional food. The hotel is right around the corner from a metro station and 2 stations from Placa De Catalunya, so it is very convenient. In comparison to the local apartments that you may find, the cost for this hotel is quite good. We paid approx 70 euros per night. The only other downfall that I must point out is that there is a constant humming noise, possibly from a fan or motor that runs 24/7, so if you are a light sleeper, this hotel may not suit you. Otherwise, for 70 euros a night, the hotel comes with free internet, clean, comfortable, and new accomodations, and easy access to a central tourist area. Just make sure you try to wave down a taxi rather than have the hotel book it for you b/c booking it will cost you a few extra euros.
