It was our first time visiting Paris and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel Corail was very comfortable and in an absolutely perfect location. The Gare de Lyon is a 3min walk up the road or the Gare d'Austerlitz is only across the bridge- both of which are perfect for the metro and easy access all around Paris. The hotel is in a safe location with several nice restaurants nearby and a supermarket just across/up the road. The Jardin des Plantes is also just across the river from here- a beautiful location and great for the kids as it has a rather large zoo. The hotel is open 24hrs/day and the staff at the reception desk are all very approachable and helpful, although some speak better english than others. The free internet/wifi access is a great bonus, as well as the fact that you do not have to take your own laptop- they have a fast computer which the guests can use for free. Our room was not huge, but it was perfectly adequate for our needs and was always cleaned/tidied nicely. The rooms are actually pretty soundproof- so although the hotel is in quite a bustling area you can't hear very much in your room when the windows are closed. The lift is rather an experience- rather small and rickety, but at no point did we feel our lives were at peril! We did not have the breakfast so I cannot comment on that, however the breakfast room looked very comfortable. One other positive point- the staff were perfectly happy for us to leave our luggage at the hotel until we left in the evening (6 hours after we had to check out). For the price you pay for this hotel it is ideal (ours was 72 euros/night for a double room). I would definitely stay there again. (Few points of advice for Paris- it's worth getting a 1/3/5 day(s) pass for the metro/buses- available from info points etc. There is a reduced rate on all monuments for 18-26 yr olds (tarif reduit). You can can also get day passes for the boats too as a form of transport. The shuttle buses to/from the airport are good value.)
